Quickly disable all WordPress plugins

Nestor MYSQL

I find myself constantly moving from WordPress installation to installation troubleshooting upgrade issues and plugin incompatibilities. One tool that TRUSITIO’s hosting provider, Cloudways offers is the ability to quickly access the Maria DB10 database tables. I use this quck method to disable all the active plugins if I find myself in a situation where a newly activated plugin or TRUSITIO’s partner program iThemes Security locks out my test user account.

UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = 'a:0:{}' WHERE option_name = 'active_plugins';

Upon execution, this query will clear the active_plugins field of all active plugins, effectively disabling (without uninstalling or modifying) the entire set. This method is great if you plan on re-enabling each plugin individually.

I have to Thank Jeff Star and Perishable Press for this fabulous post.
